Proton Journey Through Technology… Part 3: R&D Section
By jykwan | August 3, 2008
Continuation from Part 2. Here is the R&D building. Basically here is where new cars are designed and tested in every possible way. Concepts and new technology are also researched and implemented here to see if it is feasible for production. This building is also not small, it may not be wide but it is long. By this time i have already stayed standing for 3 hours plus walking and boy i’m starting to feel tired.
Here is actualy the most interesting part as in you get to see all sorts of test. Future concepts and technology like the NGV production model of the Proton Waja is shown here. There are also models that didn’t make it to the market here like the Turbo Diesel Engine and Proton Waja V6.
Here is the clay modelling machine
Designing & Choosing the fittings
Concepts of Proton Technology
1.6 Turbo Intercooler Engine (If i recall the engine)
The Waja V6…. 200 bhp
Crash Test Section
Human impact test
Durability Test
Open parts showcase
At the end there is a precission test drive too. On top of that there are other interesting test like the extreme heat test and the winter room test. The winter room test was as cold as my freezer and boy i lasted only 20 seconds before running out.
The R&D section really showed how they designed and tested the new Proton generation cars like the Waja, Gen2, Satria Neo and the new Saga. Funny thing is i don’t see a wind tunnel. So…. are proton cars aerodynamically effecient?
That’s all for Proton Journey Through Technology Part 1,2,3.
